About

Elder-in-chief

Welcome to WestVirginiaVille.

WestVirginiaVille is:

  • A personal and professional web showcase of the words, images, video, original programming and world-view of founding village elder-in-chief Douglas Imbrogno and selected collaborators.
  • A collaborative web magazine, devoted to seeking out the best work being done on the web with some connection to the West Virginia region, as well as work that originates here but speaks to a broader national, even international, audience.
  • I define ‘connection’ loosely. If it’s superb writing, excellent video, peerless podcasting, ravishing photography or striking commentary and the person associated with that work lives in the state, used to live here, wants to live here, or once bought a cappuccino or Moon Pie at a Sheetz in Milton, W.Va., we may well consider it for re-posting. It will help, obviously, if the work itself has some reference or association – however oblique or glancing – to the Mountain State. Suggest something.
  • A live experiment in 21st century web publishing. WestVirginiaVille features the usual quick hits for a Short-Attention-Span-Facebook-Junkfood-Age. But the site also showcases long-form, serialized storytelling (e.g. “What Happened” by Walker DeVille) and original programming (e.g. ‘Saint Stephen’s Dream: A Space Opera,” the debut production of The Web Theater of WestVirginiaVille.)
  • The founding of a Web commonwealth and community called WestVirginiaVille – stay tuned as we offer Citizenship in the commonwealth with many attendant benefitsĀ  (right now, you have access only to the commonwealth’s tourist regions). Plus, Citizens can run for office and wield influence!
  • The start of a full-blown web magazine on ‘A Life in the Hills’ Ā® (I haven’t really gone and registered that as a trademark, but do know how to make a registered trademark sign on my WordPress interface – so that’s a start). Look over our shoulder and make suggestions as we grow WestVirginiaVille into a full-fledged magazine with, like, advertising, and sponsors and such.
  • Speaking of advertising, it’s available. A formal advertising section will be coming later. But if you like what you are seeing, and wish to get your business in front of WestVirginiaVille eyeballs, (making an imaginary phone with his hand and putting it to his ear … ) Call us.
  • To grow this thing, we are also on the hunt for fiscal, philanthropic and angelic support from friends, family and fools. You know who you are. I hope you like us. I hope you really like us.
