A Harbinger of Autumn

There is a certain tree that grows beside First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, W.Va., that is a harbinger of Autumn. I always know that Fall is approaching its peak when I walk beneath its drooping branches, which hang low enough to tickle my head. Sometimes, I reach up and tickle it back.

  1. Thank you for sharing. I have passed this on to my mother who is with me here in Vermont. This is a special tree.

Is it a willow, I think? Davis, my older brother, the naturalist, please step up to the plate.
