A Visit to the Vineyard
One of the pleasures of working for “the state newspaper” in West Virginia is getting to visit some of the coolest places the state has to offer out on its sinuous backroads. One of these is the Vu Ja De Vineyard near Spencer, West Virginia, which is “de ja vu” backward, to mean an experience you’ve never had before. Bryan George and his wife, Ali, are making some of the finest wine in West Virginia, utilizing principles of biodynamic growing and sustainable agriculture. Bryan learned his stuff in California and his reds and whites are a match for anything out of that state. Below is a video I shot that is a companion piece to a Sept. 7, 2014 profile of the vineyard by Judy E. Hamilton.
