The Art of Mentoring Kids Who Might Get Lost in the Cracks

October 26, 2012

Here’s a recently completed video I shot and edited with Alex Morgado of Morgado Design for The Education Alliance, based in Charleston, W.Va. The video profiles some of the mentors in the Alliance’s ‘Walk the Talk’ program, who work with at-risk high school kids under all sorts of stresses at home and in daily life. Serious stuff, this program. The people who take part in it are doing the work of angels.

The piano riff, by the way, in the spirit of D.I.Y. video production, is an impromptu riff I composed on my ancient living room Beckwith upright, a piano behemoth that could be used to keep the zombies out if pressed up against the door after the Zombie Apocalypse.
