Out&About

In WestVirginiaVille’s ongoing mission to get out and about across the state and be, like, alive, I hereby commence this occasional series of three recent photos and videos from being Out and/or About.

Nick’s Mohawk | Charleston, W.Va. | westvirginiaville.com | sept. 2012

WHAT:
Nick the Bartender’s Hairdo
WHERE: The Cellar, downtown Charleston, W.Va.
HOW: iPhone collage
NOTES: My fellow BrotherSister, Albert Perrone, and I performed last night at Steve Clever’s 31st birthday jam at The Cellar. I walk into the bar, turn to order a Campari and there is Nick the Bartender, sporting a truly serious Mohawk. I actually have a point of comparison here. I passed through London in 1979, when punk and New Wave Mohawks were to be seen hither and yon on London’s funkier streets. Nick would have fit right in. The eyepatch is not affectation — Nick hurt his eye some months back. But you must admit that a Mohawk and eyepatch go together well.

WHAT: GrinFest video excerpt
WHERE: Along the Greenbrier River
HOW: Panasonic Lumix GH2 DSRL
NOTES: I was solicited to video-document this year’s GrinFest musical commune along the Greenbrier River this August. Been swamped, felt guilty I haven’t been able to get  it done. Posted this excerpt of clips from what will eventually be three 5-minute videos.
