As WestVirginiaVille.com moves toward establishing itself as a certifiable municipality on the web (we’re still caught between incorporating as a hamlet or a shire), we’re glad to direct your attention to other localities on the Web devoted to live in the village of West Virginia. The Greater Huntington Portal is a good starting point to what’s up and what’s going down around West Virginia’s second largest city.
Huntington is a city that lived at the bottom of a hole for a long while. But in recent years it has pulled itself up and peeked over the edge of that hole, with such excellent downtown developments as Pullman Square, the revitalization of the must-see rococo palace known as the Keith-Albee Theater and the ongoing architectural makeover on the Marshall University campus. Plus, contrary to initial expectations, Jamie Oliver and his Food Revolution show and crew didn’t do a hit job on the place. The recently ended, eminently watchable and inspiring “Food Revolution” reality series was a treat and blessing for the city (and, if Oliver’s changes take hold, for the state). So, check out the Portal (crafted and updated by the Huntington-based Design by Bowen) – it leads to lots of interesting places. We know because we’ve cadged a few of the cooler videos the site has dug up from around the Web.
